The Unified Namespace (UNS) is the single source of truth for the current state of your business. Structuring it correctly is critical.
ISA-95 Hierarchy
We recommend the standard 5-level hierarchy:
- Enterprise: Your Company Name.
- Site: Physical location (e.g.,
Istanbul_Factory). - Area: Logical grouping (e.g.,
Production,Utilities). - Line: Specific production line (e.g.,
Line_01). - Work Cell / Asset: The machine itself (e.g.,
Filler,Packer).

Avoid creating hierarchies deeper than 6-7 levels. It makes wildcard subscriptions (#) harder to manage.
